A new drug dubbed Viagra (sildenafil) is about to be launched to counter a sudden surge of controversy surrounding the medication.
The first pill, which was approved on Tuesday to treat erectile dysfunction in men, has been dubbed as a “new drug” in the medical community.
According to the news service, Viagra has already been marketed and prescribed to millions of men worldwide for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, a condition in which a man’s penis is too hard and stiff to achieve or maintain an erection.
The drug, made by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, is not approved for use in the United States. It will be made in China, India, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Viagra, a drug with a similar active ingredient to Sildenafil, was launched in Britain on Friday as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.
The drug is known as Viagra Connect and was originally developed to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension but has since been found to work by relaxing blood vessels in the lungs to increase blood flow.
The drug was also prescribed for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, a condition in which the prostate gland becomes enlarged and can’t be used to grow hair.
The drug is expected to hit pharmacy shelves next year after the FDA approved the prescription drug in September.
The FDA has been concerned about the impact Viagra has on health-care costs in the United States, where the drug has been a big moneymaker.
Viagra is available on prescription and over-the-counter and is available to patients from 25 cents a pill, a fraction of the $65 a month the cost of a tablet.
However, the drug has the potential to cause problems in some women, who have it in their system to become pregnant.
“I am not going to be taking Viagra for my age,” said Dr. Luiz Moura, a urologist at the Mayo Clinic.
Viagra can cause the prostate gland to enlarge, which may result in an enlarged prostate gland, or as it happens with most drugs, a condition called enlarged prostate.
The drug is not approved for use in patients under 18 or those who are taking nitrates for angina, a heart condition that causes chest pain, or those taking alpha-blockers for high blood pressure.
The drug is approved for use in the U. S. and is used as a treatment for the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men and for the treatment of the symptoms of erectile dysfunction in women.
Viagra was first approved for use in the U. in 1998.
